The Brooklyn Bridge
In 1883, P.T. Barnum led a procession of 21 elephants over the Brooklyn Bridge to quell fears that it might be unstable. 127 years later, it still stands whereas many of its contemporaries have crumbled.

St. Thomas Church on 5th Avenue
In true Gothic architectural style, the church was built entirely of stone, without any steel reinforcing. All of the arches and ribbed vaults within the building are fully load-bearing.
